The Federal Government's Stronger Relationships subsidy trial endeavoured to allow up to 100,000 eligible Australian couples to apply for a $200 relationship education voucher has been scrapped, 5 months short of its expected trial end date. Whilst the program was significantly undersubscribed (with ~10,000 couples registered), the program was deemed to be a tremendous preventative initiative for engaged and married couples. The demise of the scheme and the evaluation before the trial end date is very disappointing and an apparent end to a key pillar in Kevin Andrews longer term vision to bolster preventative measures designed to reduce Australia's significant reliance on frontline social services.
