Successful couples build willpower by resisting temptation and staying focused. They take time out to reassess their plan and realign it. They reach their goals not simply because of who they are, but more often because of what they do.
In marriage, successful couples are intentional about their relationship, they communicate well and often.
Following on from last weeks blog, successful couples do the following things:7. They build their willpower muscle:
- Successful couples tackle the hard stuff head on. They know marriage can be hard but when they are finding it a stretch, successful couples don’t give in or give up. They don't waste any time to rework their plan and deal with the issues as they occur - they tackle those issues that are hard to deal with.
- They resist the temptation of focusing on the negative. They stay focused by taking time out to reassess their plan and realign it. They adhere to their promises and continuously do what they say they are going to do. They remain intentional.
Learning to communicate well with each other is not as easy as it sounds, but it can help resolve problems before they start to affect their marriage.
Tune in next week for more things successful couples do differently.
