Hint of the Month and News Update - July-August 2008

When Rigidity or Structure Fails...

A regular reader of these Hints may have noticed that the July Hint failed to appear at the beginning of the month.  This horrendous state of affairs occurred because a series of domestic crises overturned the normal routines and structures that are part of your editor's life. As much as we sometimes complain about boring routine and resent the rigidity and structure that often accompanies our work lives, once those are lost we may experience disruptions and failures.  Those persons who strongly value rigid structures and routines are those who are least likely to be able to be flexible and make the necessary adjustments.

Perhaps, when we are working with couples' views of the structure of their relationships, we would do well to raise the question with rigid and structured couples as to how they handle threats to their routines.

This writer needed to recognise that a delay in writing this hint is hardly a significant matter and that a flexible way forward is to delay its appearance, make it a July-August Hint, and put more energy into more immediate and more urgent matters.

News Update:

The June 2008 issue of the Newsletter, the Prepare Diary, was posted on the Administrators' web site in mid-June. See the link  on the Adminstators' hompage. The December newsletter will be posted mid-December.

    PROCESSING FEE NOW $44.00
This is the first increase in the base cost of processing since 1999.  Our aim is to maintain the new processing charge for a lengthy period of time (as we have done before). We always aimed to make the processing cost comparable to that of a modest meal for a couple – we feel sure that $44 (for a couple) is still well and truly within those limits.
