Common problems in the early years of marriage
A study in the USA surveyed almost 1,000 couples who had been married five years or less (Risch, Gail S; Riley, Lisa A; Lawler, Michael G., Problematic issues in the early years of marriage: Content for premarital education. Journal of Psychology & Theology, 2003, 31, 253-26).

The top three problem and adjustment issues reported by this sample were:

  • balancing job and family 
  • frequency of sexual relations 
  • financial issues
It would seem useful to keep these in mind when exploring couples’ PREPARE reports.  Clearly, the Prepare categories dealing with Sexual Expectations/Relationship and Financial Management are relevant to the last two issues.  Balancing job and family issues are likely to emerge when discussing the Leisure Activities and Couple Closeness and Couple Flexibility issues.

    END-OF-YEAR HOLIDAY CLOSING 
    Please note that the PREPARE-ENRICH Processing Centre will close on Friday 15th December 2006 and reopen on Wednesday 3rd January 2007. 

    PROCESSING FEE NOW $44.00  
    This is the first increase in the base cost of processing since 1999.  Our aim is to maintain the new processing charge for a lengthy period of time (as we have done before). We always aimed to make the processing cost comparable to that of a modest meal for a couple – we feel sure that $44 (for a couple) is still well and truly within those limits.
