A message from Elizabeth Dalzell: 

Hello again dear colleagues. 

The committee for the above conference is still working really hard. We now have our keynote speakers organised, There will be resources and research findings available. There will be 5 workshop sessions that each delegate can attend with a choice of over 20 topics to choose from. 

Wednesday evening will be a fun night where we can get to know one another then the opening session on Thursday morning is quite unique and very special. We have some great entertainment planned for Thursday evening and Friday evening a bus will take delegates in to Fremantle to have a wander around. 

Our theme “Creating Harmony” will be incorporated in varied ways across the time of the conference which will end at the conference dinner on Saturday night. 

The accommodation at the Tradewinds has conference rates. There are one or two room apartments to choose from and if you want to share (to keep costs down)  but don’t know who else is coming, please inform Lola at Tradewinds and she can help you out. There are plenty of local food outlets where you can eat out or take away so we are trying to keep the costs to a minimum. 

We are now finalising workshop presenters and then will put together the registration form.. If you would like an electronic copy, please write to me at edalzell@bigpond.net.au and I will forward it on to the relevant person to send it on to you when it is ready. There will be an Early Bird discount. 

I am so looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible and if I can help further in your planning please drop me a line. I am moving house in June (I hope) so please make allowances if there is a little delay in my responses.

Plans for a MARENC that’s bigger and better than ever are currently underway. The Marriage and Relationship Educators National Conference 2007 is to be held from September 20-22 with CSME Day on September 19. Located at the Tradewinds Hotel in the beautiful, historic, City of Fremantle and only 30 minutes from Perth it’s an opportunity not to be missed. 

The theme for this year’s MARENC is Creating Harmony. Healthy relationships are all about harmony. Marriage educators around the globe are involved in the important task of Creating Harmony. Harmony within self, harmony in relationships, harmony in community and harmony in the world. Each day of the conference will have a different focus around the theme Creating Harmony. 

You can keep up-to-date with developments at www.mareaa.asn.au or  www.csme.catholic.org.au. Registration forms will be available in the coming months. Mark it into your diary now! It’s an opportunity for marriage educators nationally and internationally. 

The MARENC conference is a joint venture between MAREAA (Marriage and Relationship Educators Association of Australia) and CSME (Catholic Society of Marriage Education), supported by the Family and Relationships Services Program of the Department of Family, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs. 

Participants at the conference will include relationship and family educators, academics in the field and policy makers from government and professional organisations. 

The conference aims to: 
 

• Update delegates with developments in the field of relationship education.
• Offer workshops and presentations to enhance educators’ knowledge and skills.
• Facilitate the sharing of resources.
• Establish and maintain support networks among educators.

Promote marriage and relationship education in the wider community.
